Overview

A Coupon Card is designed to give new customers a reason to try your business. It’s a one-time-use offer that can include a free service, discount, or product. Once the coupon is redeemed, it can optionally convert into a permanent loyalty card—allowing the customer to begin collecting stamps or points immediately.

This strategy is especially effective for:

  • Cafes and coffee shops

  • Hair salons and barbershops

  • Fitness studios

  • Retail stores


How It Works

  1. Distribution
    Share the digital coupon via QR code, SMS, email, or link—usually through promotions, social media, or partnerships.

  2. Redemption
    The customer presents the coupon at checkout. Staff scans or marks it as used in the Loyaltify system.

  3. Conversion (Optional)
    Once redeemed, the card can automatically convert into a loyalty card (stamp points etc.), allowing the customer to keep engaging with your business.


Real Example

“Enjoy a free coffee on your first visit!”
After redemption, the customer receives a stamp card and starts collecting visits toward their next free coffee.


Creating a Coupon Card in Loyaltify

1. Basic Information

Navigate to Loyalty Cards → click New Loyalty Card → enter:

  • Card Name: Assign a name to the card

  • Loyalty Card Type: Choose Coupon

2. Appearance

Customize the design of your card:

  • Background Color or upload a Background Image (1140 × 435px recommended)

  • Choose a Text Color that’s visible and brand-aligned

  • The Card Preview updates in real time on the right

3. Campaign

  • Define your campaign.

  • Enable auto-conversion to a stamp or point card if desired.

    • Choose the target loyalty card.

Advanced Settings

Click the Advanced Settings toggle to access optional settings and layout customization.

Card expiration

Choose how long your loyalty card stays valid:

  • Fixed Date: Expires on a chosen date (e.g., Dec 31, 2025)

  • Relative Date: Expires X days/months/years after card issuance

Layout Customization

Edit the card’s layout by customizing the left field:

  • Member Info

  • Birthday

Feedback

Add a link for feedback on the back of the card (e.g., to google maps)

External Link

Add a link on the back of the card (e.g., to your website, menu, promo page).

Terms of Service

Include a custom link to your business’s terms of service—displayed during customer sign-up.

Support Email

Required by Apple for all mobile wallet passes.

Barcode Type

Choose how to scan the card at check-in

Supported types:

  • QR Code (Recommended)

  • Code 128

  • Aztec

  • PDF 417

Tip: Use QR unless you're integrating with a specific barcode scanner.
